You know something? I don't GET racism. Honestly. Call me naive, but I just don't get it. I mean who CARES if your skin is a different color than that of the person sitting next to you? Would you hate someone just because they're wearing a different color jacket than you? Would all of the blondes in the world consider enslaving all of the brunettes, just because their hair is lighter? Honestly. When you think about racism, it's really is so stupid.
The majority of my friends have a different skin color than I do. I am white, but my best friend is black/japanese/hawaiian and my boyfriend is mexican/native american. They are two of the most important people in the world to me, and not once have I ever thought of them in terms of skin color. I love them, and that's all there is to it.

Well, think about it in terms of other prejudices: misogyny or homophobia. Who CARES if two men can get married? Who CARES if the woman next door can have an abortion if she wants one? People who want to think themselves superior to others do: people who want to reduce entire groups of people to a less-than-human status.

I understand how people can think themselves superior to others, but i don't understand why they have to "reduce entire groups of people" to do so.

Well, months ago, you posted a long rant against anti-war peace pro-protesters that I assume had been circulating on the Internet when you got it: this rant reduced anti-war pro-peace protesters to an inferior group, stereotyping us and accusing us of all being juvenile selfish assholes. I didn't take it personally, but I did register it as an example of, well, prejudice against pacifists like me: a perfect example of created discrimination, inventing stuff in order to be able to hate.

Not that I think you hate me, or that you thought of the rant as discrimination: but if you think about your wanting to post that, you can maybe get why other people are prejudiced against other groups. I think that the beginning of understanding prejudice is figuring out what your own prejudices are, and what your motivations are for believing these things.
